Egypt Opens August Transfer Window for Al‑Azhar Institutes and Ministry Schools

The central administration of Egypt’s Al‑Azhar institutes announced that, from 1 August to 31 August 2026, students may apply to transfer between Al‑Azhar institutes and schools of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education for the 2026/2027 academic year. The transfer is limited to primary‑level students from second grade up to third‑grade preparatory students. Those holding a general preparatory certificate for 2025/2026 may also join Al‑Azhar secondary schools through a qualifying programme.

Applicants must submit an electronic statement of the student’s academic status (pass/fail) and obtain approval from both the sending and receiving institutions. Transfers to or from kindergarten, first‑grade primary, and any secondary‑school level are prohibited. Candidates moving to Al‑Azhar must pass an oral Quran memorisation test that meets age and memorisation‑density requirements. The process is overseen by Sheikh Magdy Atta, head of the Al‑Azhar central administration, and follows the directives issued by the Al‑Azhar institute sector and the Ministry of Education.
