Egypt passenger car licenses grow 33% in first eight months of 2026

The Egyptian passenger car market saw a 33% increase in new vehicle licenses during the first eight months of 2026, reaching approximately 178,400 units compared to 134,100 during the same period last year. Data from the Egyptian Compulsory Insurance Pool indicates that August 2026 alone saw a 23.5% rise in new passenger car licenses, totaling 24,167 vehicles.

MG emerged as the leading brand in August, securing the top position for the second consecutive month with 2,326 licensed vehicles. The MG ZS model was a primary driver of this success, accounting for 646 registrations. Other top-performing brands in August included Chery with 1,861 units, Jetour with 1,696, Nissan with 1,546, and Hyundai with 1,468.

Overall vehicle registrations in Egypt grew by 29.5% in August, reaching 67,900 units. This growth included a 9.8% increase in truck licenses and a significant 32% surge in motorcycle registrations, which reached 37,100 units.
