Egypt passport drops, Morocco passport leads Maghreb in Henley index

The July edition of the Henley & Partners passport index shows Egypt’s passport slipping five places to rank 86 worldwide, granting its holders visa‑free or visa‑on‑arrival access to 49 destinations. The decline reflects the index’s methodology, which rewards the total number of visa‑free entries and penalises countries that do not secure new bilateral agreements.

Morocco’s passport, by contrast, rises to 67th place globally, allowing travel to 71 countries without prior visas and retaining the top position among Maghreb states, ahead of Tunisia, Algeria, Mauritania and Libya. The report also notes Singapore remaining first, the United Arab Emirates at second, and the United Kingdom in the top ten, underscoring the link between visa‑free mobility and a nation’s diplomatic and economic outreach.
