Egypt PM Mustafa Madbouly details support reforms and transparency push

Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly told reporters that the Egyptian government is handling its affairs with increased transparency and responsibility. He highlighted the ongoing public dialogue on the personal status law, negotiations on local‑currency swap agreements with several countries, and confirmed that a new IMF programme is not required after the current agreement ends. Madbouly emphasized that cash subsidies will be refined to improve distribution efficiency rather than cut values, and stressed the priority of securing stable electricity supply for the summer. He also announced the digitisation of endowment assets, the restructuring of economic agencies, and the upcoming launch of a global logistics centre in the Suez Canal Economic Zone to boost trade and job creation.

In a separate meeting, Madbouly and Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Shereif Farouk reviewed progress on modernising Egypt’s social‑protection system. They discussed updating beneficiary databases, expanding electronic linkage across ministries, and using digital tools to enhance targeting, transparency and grievance handling. Both officials reaffirmed the government’s commitment to social justice, efficient public spending and sustained economic development, in line with President Abdel Fattah al‑Sisi’s directives.
