Egypt poultry and egg market prices fluctuate

Poultry and egg prices in Egypt have shown recent fluctuations in both wholesale and retail markets. White poultry farm prices rose to approximately 60-61 EGP per kilogram, reaching consumer prices of around 72 EGP. Sasso poultry and local Baladi chicken also maintain higher price points, with Baladi chicken reaching 120 EGP per kilogram for consumers.

Egg prices vary by type. Red egg cartons are priced at approximately 85 EGP wholesale and 110-120 EGP for consumers. White egg cartons are priced at 85 EGP wholesale, with consumer prices ranging between 105 and 115 EGP. Local Baladi eggs are sold at approximately 100 EGP wholesale and 110 EGP for consumers.

Industry officials note that while recent price increases are not extreme and supply remains sufficient, further rises may occur to ensure producers maintain adequate profit margins to cover production costs. The poultry sector in Egypt represents a significant economic driver, with investments exceeding 200 billion EGP and providing employment for approximately 3.5 million citizens. To support the industry, the Ministry of Agriculture is working with the National Bank of Egypt and the Agricultural Bank of Egypt to provide facilitated financing for breeders to purchase feed, chicks, and veterinary supplies.
