Egypt poultry and egg prices stabilize as supply surges

On Saturday 8 August 2026, poultry and egg prices in Egypt’s domestic markets steadied after a recent rise. Farm‑gate prices for white broiler chickens were about 59 EGP per kilogram, with retail prices around 69‑70 EGP, while mother‑hen chickens cost roughly 48 EGP at the farm and 58‑60 EGP for consumers. Sasso‑type chickens were priced near 84 EGP at the farm and 94‑100 EGP at retail. Egg carton prices remained stable, with white and red eggs at 100‑110 EGP and local eggs at 120‑130 EGP per dozen.

The sector reports a total production of roughly 1.6 billion birds and 16 billion eggs, a 14 % increase year‑on‑year, supporting about 3.5 million jobs and attracting investments exceeding 200 billion EGP. Egypt now exports poultry and egg products to around 35 countries. The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation continues to monitor market conditions and extreme heat, urging producers to follow bio‑security and animal‑health guidelines to protect livestock during high‑temperature periods.
