Egypt prepares for 2026-2027 school year with new curricula

Egypt's Ministry of Education and Technical Education has finalized preparations for the 2026-2027 academic year, which is scheduled to begin on September 12, 2026. The ministry has implemented several curriculum updates, including mathematics for second and third-grade primary students and science for fourth through sixth-grade primary students, both developed using Japanese learning methodologies. Additionally, third-year preparatory school curricula are being integrated into the new 2.0 education system, and second-year baccalaureate curricula have been updated to include financial literacy.

To ensure a smooth start, Minister of Education Mohamed Abdel Latif has issued strict instructions to school principals to complete the receipt and distribution of textbooks by the first day of classes. Educational administrations are conducting daily monitoring to prevent any delays in student access to materials.

The academic calendar specifies a total of 183 actual school days, consisting of 93 days in the first semester and 90 days in the second. The mid-year break is scheduled from January 23 to February 4, 2027. First-semester exams for transfer classes will run from January 9 to January 14, 2027.
