Egypt prepares for final 2026 public holiday on October 6

In Egypt, the upcoming official holiday for 2026 is the Armed Forces Day, commemorating the October Victory. The holiday falls on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. There is anticipation regarding whether the government will postpone the holiday to Thursday, October 8, 2026, to create a longer consecutive break for employees and students.

This event marks the final paid public holiday of the year for both the public and private sectors. Previous holidays in the year included the Prophet's Birthday, which was also extended by government decision to provide a longer rest period.
