Egypt Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli moves to raise university staff pay and tighten development financing governance

Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli chaired a meeting to consider raising incentives for university faculty and researchers, acting on President Abdel Fattah al‑Sisi’s directive to improve academic salaries. Finance Minister Ahmed Kajoq and the Education Minister were present as the cabinet discussed financial parameters and the preparation of a final decree.

In a separate session, Madbouli led officials from the foreign affairs and planning ministries to review the governance of development loans and grants. The discussion highlighted the newly integrated international cooperation portfolio within the Foreign Ministry and the rollout of a unified electronic system to track financing from negotiation through implementation, aiming to streamline project completion and address challenges in loan and grant management.
