Egypt proposes integrated Korean industrial zone in Suez Canal

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has proposed the establishment of an integrated Korean industrial zone within the Suez Canal Economic Zone. During a visit to Seoul, el-Sisi met with 23 major Korean companies to discuss expanding economic, investment, and technological cooperation.

The proposed industrial zone is intended to serve as a regional production and export hub for Korean firms. By utilizing Egypt’s network of free trade agreements, companies could more easily access markets in Africa, the Arab world, and the European Union.

In discussions with his South Korean counterpart, el-Sisi emphasized that the two nations have elevated their relationship to a strategic partnership. He expressed Egypt’s commitment to facilitating Korean investments and increasing political consultation to address international security and stability challenges.
