Egypt reports economic growth improvements in World Bank meeting
Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Ahmed Rostam, reported tangible improvements in Egypt's economic growth rates, driven by vital sectors despite regional and international geopolitical tensions. During the 81st Annual Meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund in Bangkok, Thailand, Rostam met with Osman Dion, the World Bank Vice President for the MENA region, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
The discussions focused on the existing development cooperation portfolio and ways to maximize its benefits. Rostam highlighted that the Egyptian government is implementing structural measures to increase competitiveness, improve the business environment, and enhance resilience against external shocks.
A key initiative discussed was the upcoming ‘National Economic Transformation Program.’ This integrated national vision aims to build on previous reform achievements and shift the growth trajectory to rely primarily on investment and production. The World Bank expressed its readiness to provide support and expertise to assist the Egyptian government in preparing and executing this program.
