Egypt requests proposals for 24 additional Rafale fighter jets

Egypt has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to Dassault Aviation for the potential acquisition of 24 additional Rafale fighter jets. If the deal is finalized, it would mark Egypt's third contract for the aircraft, bringing its total fleet to 78 units.

The move is part of a broader effort by Cairo to modernize its air force and replace aging F-16 fleets, some of which date back to the 1980s. Egypt was the first foreign customer for the Rafale in 2015, initially purchasing 24 aircraft, followed by an additional 30 in 2021.

While the RFP has been submitted, it does not yet constitute a firm order. Specific details regarding pricing, financing, delivery schedules, and technical specifications have not been disclosed. The potential procurement also aligns with the strategic partnership between France and Egypt established during President Emmanuel Macron's visit in April 2025.
