Egypt reviews humanitarian aid efforts for Gaza, Sudan, and Lebanon

Egypt's Minister of Social Solidarity, Maya Morsy, presided over an Egyptian Red Crescent board meeting to review humanitarian relief efforts. Since the onset of the crisis in October 2023, the Egyptian Red Crescent has delivered approximately 1,019,189 tons of aid to the Gaza Strip. Between July 2025 and June 2026, the organization coordinated 77 aircraft and 160 maritime shipments, alongside 236 aid convoys totaling 466,416 tons.

Beyond Gaza, the Red Crescent is managing humanitarian responses in Sudan via the Qustul and Argin crossings and has dispatched a 1,000-ton maritime shipment to Lebanon.

Additionally, Minister Morsy met with the World Food Programme (WFP) representative in Egypt to discuss strengthening cooperation in maternal and child nutrition. Discussions focused on Egypt's social protection programs, such as the 'Takaful and Karama' conditional cash transfer system, and economic empowerment initiatives aimed at providing financial inclusion for vulnerable populations.
