Egypt road authority denies claims of poor Qift-Al Qusayr road conditions
The General Authority for Roads and Bridges has issued a statement denying social media claims regarding the poor condition of the Qift-Al Qusayr Road. The authority clarified that development and maintenance works are actively ongoing for the 180-kilometer route, which connects the Nile Valley to the Red Sea Governorate.
According to the authority, 57 kilometers of the road within the Qena Governorate have already undergone efficiency upgrades. Additionally, a 90-kilometer section within the Red Sea Governorate has been included in the current fiscal year’s comprehensive maintenance plan, with works already underway following high engineering standards.
The road serves as a vital economic and geographic axis, facilitating trade, reducing travel time between Upper Egypt and the Red Sea, supporting tourism, and serving mining projects in the Al-Fawakhir area. The authority urged media outlets and social media users to verify information through official Ministry of Transport sources.
