Egypt Sets 2026 Public Holiday Dates for Mawlid and Revolution Day

The Egyptian cabinet announced that Thursday 23 July 2026 will be a paid public holiday marking the anniversary of the 23 July Revolution. The holiday applies to ministries, public institutions, local administrations and both public‑sector and private‑sector employees.

The same decree set Wednesday 26 August 2026 as the official day for the observance of the Prophet’s Birthday (Mawlid). Officials indicated the date could be shifted to Thursday 27 August, following previous practice. Dar al‑Ifta stated, “إن الاحتفال بالمولد النبوي الشريف أمر مستحب شرعًا …”, confirming the religious endorsement of the holiday.

The decree also confirmed that Tuesday 6 October 2026 will be the final paid public holiday of the year for Armed Forces Day.
