Egypt simplifies health insurance renewals for pensioners
The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has introduced new facilities to simplify the renewal of health insurance cards for pensioners. This initiative aims to reduce administrative burdens and ease access to medical services for approximately 3.4 million citizens.
Under the new system, pensioners or their first-degree relatives can complete the renewal process at any of the 135 health insurance outlets nationwide using only a national ID card. This eliminates the previous requirement to visit Social Insurance Authority offices to obtain and stamp renewal forms.
While the Ministry works on fully integrating the databases of the Health Insurance Organization and the National Social Insurance Authority, the current process will rely on a signed declaration by the cardholder or their relative. This declaration confirms insurance premium payments and ensures the individual is not currently employed elsewhere.
