Egypt social insurance employee suspended after verbal abuse incident

The National Social Insurance Authority has suspended an employee at the Haram insurance office and referred her for legal investigation. The action follows a video circulating on social media that documented the employee verbally abusing a citizen and using offensive hand gestures while the individual was receiving services at the office.

Officials stated that the decision to suspend the employee was made by the office manager and reported to central administration immediately after the incident, prior to the video gaining widespread traction on Facebook. The employee has been referred to the central legal affairs department in the New Administrative Capital to face disciplinary measures in accordance with established regulations.

Gamal Awad, head of the National Social Insurance Authority, emphasized that treating citizens with respect and dignity is a fundamental principle of the institution. He stressed the necessity of maintaining high standards of professionalism and discipline across all insurance offices, asserting that the authority will not tolerate any misconduct that violates the rights or dignity of citizens.
