Egypt targets export growth and digital services to boost investment

Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Farid, has outlined a strategic plan to enhance the nation's economic competitiveness through digital transformation and market expansion. Speaking at the ‘Future of Egyptian Industry and Exports’ forum, the Minister emphasized the development of an integrated system for investors and exporters, focusing on rapid response times and the digitalization of services.

Key digital initiatives include the Investor Care platform, an electronic chatbot, and the ‘TradeTech Sandbox’ regulatory laboratory. The Ministry is also working on an economic entities platform to simplify company formation and is preparing to announce amendments to company incorporation laws. To drive exports, the ‘Egypt Sets Off with Exporting’ initiative aims to expand the exporter base and provide companies with critical market intelligence.

During a ministerial roundtable at the 2026 Global Investment Forum in Doha, Farid also projected a real economic growth rate of 5.1% for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. He noted that macroeconomic stability and clear monetary and fiscal policies are essential for attracting long-term investment. The government's National Economic Transformation Program (2027–2030) seeks to build on recent reforms by increasing private sector participation and productivity.
