Egypt to develop Taposiris Magna and Marina El Alamein archaeological sites

Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, has directed the development of several archaeological sites on the North Coast to enhance cultural tourism in the region.

At Taposiris Magna in the Abu Sir area, the Minister ordered an integrated project to upgrade infrastructure and services to prepare the site for public opening. The site, which served as a religious and commercial center during the Ptolemaic and Roman eras, is being studied by an Egyptian-Dominican mission. Recent findings include temple remains, funerary passages, mummies, and a submerged port.

Additionally, Fathy inspected the Marina El Alamein archaeological area to monitor its ongoing development. This project, expected to be completed in the first half of next year, includes building a visitor center, security walls, and paths for pedestrians and electric vehicles. The site features 44 discovered tombs and various architectural elements that reflect the area's historical prosperity.
