Egypt to honor late singer Hani Shaker with statue at Cairo Opera House

The Egyptian Opera House has announced the installation of a statue dedicated to the late singer Hani Shaker to honor his contributions to Egyptian and Arabic music. The announcement was made during the opening of the 34th edition of the Arab Music Festival and Conference, an event named in his honor.

As part of the festivities, a cultural seminar titled ‘Prince of Arabic Singing’ was held to discuss Shaker’s artistic career and his impact on the musical landscape. The seminar featured various musicians, poets, and critics, including Mustafa Kamel, the head of the Musicians Syndicate.

The festival's opening included a tribute night where Shaker's widow, Nahla Tawfik, received an honorary shield and certificate. The event also featured a documentary film about his life and performances of his most famous songs by various artists. The festival is scheduled to continue through October 30, featuring 91 artists across 24 concerts.
