Egypt Tourism Minister announces visitor growth and museum price changes

Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, presided over meetings regarding the management of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and the Tourism and Antiquities Support Fund.

During the museum board meeting, officials approved a proposal to increase entrance ticket prices for archaeological halls and restoration laboratories, effective April 1. To encourage group travel, a new 5% discount for tourism companies was approved for bulk purchases of between 250 and 500 tickets. The meeting also reviewed visitor statistics and approved regulations for school trips via the ‘Rehla’ platform.

In a separate meeting regarding the Tourism and Antiquities Support Fund, Minister Fathy reported a 9% increase in incoming tourist arrivals during the third week of September compared to the same period last year. The board also approved support for the Sustainable Fisheries Development Fund to assist projects in South Sinai aimed at preventing overfishing and protecting marine environments at tourist destinations.
