Egypt Transport Minister inspects Sinai railway development project
Egypt's Minister of Transport, Kamel al-Wazir, conducted an inspection tour to monitor the progress of the railway rehabilitation and construction project connecting El Ferdan, Port Said, Bir al-Abd, Arish, and Taba. The project spans approximately 500 km and serves as a primary component of the Arish/Taba integrated international developmental logistics corridor.
During the tour, the Minister reviewed the 341 km section from Bir al-Abd to Ras al-Naqab (Taba Airport), including 12 km connections to Arish Port and a cement factory. Work is currently progressing on the 83 km stretch between Bir al-Abd and Arish, involving 11 national Egyptian companies. The project includes the construction of seven stations: El Sadat, El Taloul, Shohadaa al-Rawda, Salt Factory, Al-Masaid, Sinai–Central Arish, and Arish Airport.
Infrastructure works include nine intersection bridges, one track bridge, and two tunnels. The Minister emphasized that the development train is a strategic project intended to achieve comprehensive development in Sinai, supporting the transport of passengers and goods while connecting residential, industrial, and mining areas to the national network.
