Egypt Universal Health Insurance contracts with Smouha University Hospital

The General Authority for Universal Health Insurance has signed an agreement with Smouha University Specialized Hospital in Alexandria to provide healthcare services. This partnership aims to expand the provider network and strengthen cooperation with university hospitals as part of the national effort to implement the universal health insurance system across Egypt.

Smouha University Specialized Hospital has a capacity of 58 beds and offers specialized services including intensive care, cardiac, cerebral, and peripheral catheterization, cardiothoracic and open-heart surgery, and dialysis. The agreement also focuses on meeting accreditation requirements from the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation to ensure high-quality medical standards.

Officials from the Authority and Alexandria University discussed prioritizing health services in the governorate, with an emphasis on expanding primary healthcare facilities as the first point of entry for patients. Additionally, the Authority highlighted the importance of Alexandria University in training new specialists in family medicine to support the national health system and enhance primary care units.
