Egypt Wins African Judo Championships Individual Competition in Morocco

The African Judo Championships individual events were held in Morocco from 20 to 27 June. Egypt’s youth and junior judo teams topped the medal table, securing 13 medals – six gold, three silver and four bronze – and winning the overall cup.

Gold medals were claimed by Youssef Kassar (73 kg), Yassin Sabra (60 kg), Ahmed Baha (81 kg), Ammar Abu Hashem (90 kg), Jeni Yaqout (87 kg) and Mustafa Al‑Ramli (100 kg). Silver medals went to Youssef Lotfy (73 kg), Bushra Idris (63 kg) and Safa Suleiman (+78 kg). Bronze medals were earned by Shuruq Mohamed (48 kg), Mustafa Hamada (66 kg), Maryam Suleiman (57 kg) and Abdullah Hamdi (+100 kg). Algeria finished second with 14 medals and Morocco third.

Egyptian Judo Federation president Mohamed Muti congratulated the athletes and staff, noting that the results demonstrate Egyptian judo’s steady progress toward stronger continental and global competition.
