Egyptian Ambulance Authority honors boy who called for father's stroke rescue

Dr. Amr Rashid, Chairman of the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, has ordered the provision of a specialized ambulance to transport the father of 13-year-old Mohamed Ragab to his home in Cairo following his recovery. The boy gained attention for his calm composure when he called the emergency hotline (123) to request help for his father, who had suffered a stroke while driving a truck on the Eastern Desert Road in Beni Suef.

To utilize this incident as an educational tool, the Authority announced that Mohamed Ragab’s emergency call will be integrated into its official training programs and the ‘Little Paramedic’ project, which teaches school children first aid and emergency communication.

Dr. Rashid also honored the ambulance crew and dispatch staff involved in the rescue. He specifically commended dispatcher Saber Mohamed for supporting the child during the call, and paramedics Mohamed Erfan and Adour Fathallah for their rapid six-minute response time, which allowed for medical intervention during the critical ‘golden hour’ of the stroke.
