Egyptian exports to Tanzania rise 3.2% to $11.1 million in Q1 2026

The Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics reported that Egypt's exports to Tanzania increased by 3.2% in the first quarter of 2026, reaching $11.1 million, up from $10.8 million a year earlier. The growth was driven by shipments of electrical machinery and equipment ($3.1 million), salt and sulphur ($1.8 million), plastics and related products ($1.1 million), and assorted food and chemical goods.

During the same period, Egyptian imports from Tanzania fell sharply by 75.8% to $1.2 million, down from $5 million in Q1 2025. The main imports were tobacco ($590.7 thousand), plant‑based textile fibres, fish, oil‑seeds, coffee and tea, and assorted fruits. Overall trade between the two countries declined by 21.6%, with total bilateral exchange valued at $12.3 million, compared with $15.8 million a year earlier.
