Egyptian Football Association to appeal FIFA sanctions

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) is reviewing detailed justifications from FIFA's disciplinary committee regarding sanctions imposed on Egypt national team coach Hossam Hassan, team manager Ibrahim Hassan, and player Mostafa Ziko.

The sanctions, which stem from incidents following a match against Argentina during the 2026 World Cup, include a three-match suspension for both Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan, and a five-match suspension for Mostafa Ziko.

EFA officials have described the penalties as “harsh and unjust” compared to similar previous cases. The association is currently working with specialists to prepare a legal appeal aimed at reducing the suspension periods, with a decision on the filing expected within hours or days.
