Egyptian football coaches Ibrahim and Hossam Hassan in focus
Ibrahim Hassan, a 59‑year‑old former defender, now serves as assistant coach to his twin brother Hossam Hassan with the Egypt national team. In July 2026 he was reported to have been involved in a dispute with a police officer in the United States while the Egyptian squad was participating in a friendly‑tournament match.
Hossam Hassan, renowned as the most decorated African player, captained Egypt for over two decades, appeared in the 1990 and 2006 World Cups and amassed 39 official titles. He retired as a player in 2007 and has since taken charge of the national side, leading Egypt into the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
