Egyptian Government Processes 229,000 Citizen Complaints in July

The Egyptian Cabinet reported that its unified complaints system handled approximately 229,000 citizen complaints, requests and inquiries during July. After an initial review, 84% (about 192,000) were forwarded to the appropriate ministries and agencies for action, while 14% (around 32,000) were closed and the remainder are still under review.

Nine ministries, including the Interior, Housing, Health, and Telecommunications, accounted for 67% of the cases, receiving roughly 90% of the forwarded items. Nine governorates, such as Cairo and Alexandria, handled 17% of the total, with the majority of regional submissions directed to local authorities. Performance indicators showed several ministries and governorates achieving high response rates and speedy processing.

Prime Minister Mustapha Madbouly emphasized the need to diversify direct communication channels with citizens to ensure rapid receipt and accurate handling of complaints, aiming to improve public service quality and reduce the root causes of grievances.
