Egyptian Journalists Syndicate seeks clarity on detention of six platform members

The Egyptian Journalists Syndicate has filed formal requests with the Public Prosecutor and the State Security Prosecution to clarify the legal status of six individuals associated with the 'Matasada'sh' platform. The syndicate is seeking confirmation regarding reports that the individuals were detained by the Ministry of Interior and ordered to be held for 15 days pending investigation.

The syndicate noted that it has not been officially notified of the detainees' location or the timing of their investigations, despite one individual being a syndicate member and the others being trainee journalists. Legal representatives from the syndicate attempted to attend investigations at the State Security Prosecution on October 1, but reported they were not informed of any proceedings or provided with case numbers or charges.

In response to the situation, Egyptian police established security cordons around the Journalists Syndicate headquarters in central Cairo to prevent a planned solidarity protest. Syndicate officials advised journalists to gather inside the building's main hall rather than on the steps to avoid potential confrontations with security forces.
