Egyptian Journalists Syndicate to host World Photography Day 2026 celebrations

The Egyptian Journalists Syndicate, in collaboration with the Arab Photographers Union and the Photojournalists Division, is organizing a major celebration for World Photography Day 2026. Held under the theme “Egypt through the eyes of its photographers: a history told and an image built,” the event will take place on August 19 and 20 at the Journalists Syndicate headquarters in Cairo.

Parallel activities will also be held in Alexandria, Mansoura, Damietta, and Port Said. The event aims to establish World Photography Day as a permanent fixture on Egypt’s cultural calendar and highlight the role of Egyptian photographers in documenting the nation’s history and visual identity.

The celebration, named after the pioneering photojournalist Mohamed Youssef, includes a photography exhibition featuring rare historical collections and vintage cameras used by pioneers of the craft. The second day of the event will feature a series of seminars and discussion sessions involving media and arts experts.
