Egyptian juniors clinch opening victory at African U18 volleyball tournament in Alexandria

The African Under‑18 volleyball championship opened in Alexandria on July 22, 2026, hosted by the Bayonairs Club from July 20‑30 with 14 national teams participating. The opening ceremony was attended by Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Gouhar Nabil, and Alexandria Governor Ayman Attia, and featured cultural performances.

In the tournament’s first match, Egypt’s U18 men’s team defeated Burundi in three straight sets (25‑16, 25‑18, 25‑23), earning three points in Group A alongside Morocco and Nigeria. The victory marked a strong start for the host nation in the competition.
