Egyptian Medical Syndicate General Assembly approves key financial and professional reforms

The General Assembly of the Egyptian Medical Syndicate has convened to approve several significant financial and professional resolutions. Key financial decisions include the approval of audited budgets for the years 2022 through 2025, the adoption of the 2026 estimated budget, and a 10% increase in fees for the assembly's auditor.

On professional and educational matters, the assembly passed several mandates aimed at regulating medical education and practice. These include a requirement to submit high school certificates for syndicate registration starting next year and a proposal to ensure that international university branches follow national admission standards. The syndicate also called for a cap on international students in public medical colleges at 5%, directing the remainder to private and national universities.

Furthermore, the assembly demanded that medical colleges failing to establish university hospitals within the presidential-mandated three-year grace period be barred from admitting new students. Other discussions focused on creating fair equivalency mechanisms for various international certificates and establishing general principles for doctors' media appearances in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the Supreme Council for Media Regulation.
