Egyptian National Railways announces schedule and service changes

The Egyptian National Railways has announced several operational updates, including new schedules and service adjustments across its network.

Significant changes to train timings and compositions are set to take effect in late September and October 2026. Specifically, starting September 21, schedules for certain Cairo-Sohag and Cairo-Aswan routes will be modified. Additionally, starting October 1, the composition of certain tourist trains on the Cairo-Zagazig line will change. Some services, including certain 'Tahya Misr' trains and specific Cairo-Alexandria routes on Fridays and holidays, are scheduled for suspension or temporary stoppage.

Daily schedules remain active for major routes, including high-end services such as Talgo, VIP, and sleeper trains. The Talgo service operates on both the Cairo-Alexandria and Cairo-Aswan lines, providing luxury travel with specific stops in cities like Giza, Minya, Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Edfu, and Kom Ombo. Other available services include Spanish-developed trains, air-conditioned third-class, and dynamic ventilation trains serving major hubs like Cairo, Alexandria, Aswan, and various Upper Egypt governorates.
