Egyptian Paralympic Committee launches new athletes' council

The Egyptian Paralympic Committee, led by Dr. Hossam El‑Din Mostafa, will inaugurate a new Paralympic athletes' council on Wednesday, 5 August, at 12 p.m. in the Olympic Center. The ceremony is set to include international Paralympic athletes and an invitation has been extended to Joher Nabil, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, to attend.

The council’s members were elected on 8 July through an online vote by athletes who competed in the last four Paralympic Games (London 2012, Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, Paris 2024). Winners include taekwondo athlete Abdel Rahman Mahmoud Abdel Razek (35 votes), table‑tennis player Fayza Mahmoud (29 votes), weight‑lifting athlete Hani Mohsen Abdel Hadi (25 votes) and swimmer Aya Allah Ayman Abbas (18 votes). The council will work alongside the committee’s Player Affairs Department to strengthen athlete participation in decision‑making and advance the future of Paralympic sport in Egypt.
