Egypt petroleum companies launch safety reporting initiative

Multiple companies within Egypt’s petroleum sector have launched safety awareness initiatives under the slogan ‘Your Report Makes a Difference’ (Balaghak Yofreq). These actions follow directives from the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to strengthen occupational health and safety culture and enhance risk awareness.

Participating companies include Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO), Misr Petroleum, Petroleum Marine Services (PMS), Badr El Din Petroleum, and Hamra Oil. These organizations conducted ‘Safety Stand Down’ events involving employees across various administrative offices, offshore units, and field sites.

The initiatives focus on encouraging proactive reporting of hazards, unsafe behaviors, and near-miss incidents to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment. Key components of the campaign include implementing ‘no-blame’ policies to protect whistleblowers, utilizing multiple reporting channels such as internal phones and radios, and emphasizing that safety is a collective responsibility rather than just a management task.
