Egyptian police kill 3 and arrest 3 in gang raid

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior has dismantled a dangerous criminal gang following a high-speed theft on the Egypt-Ismailia Desert Road. The incident, which gained social media attention through video footage, involved a pickup truck following a refrigerated transport vehicle to steal its cargo of frozen poultry on August 25.

Security forces tracked the gang to hideouts in the Cairo and Qalyubia governorates. During the raid, the suspects opened fire on the police, leading to a violent exchange. The confrontation resulted in the deaths of three gang members and the arrest of three others.

The six suspects were identified as high-risk criminals with prior convictions for robbery, attempted murder, drug trafficking, and illegal weapons possession. Authorities seized two automatic rifles, a shotgun, a single-shot shotgun, the vehicle used in the crime, and various stolen goods.
