Gold prices rise globally amid US economic uncertainty
Gold prices experienced upward movement on Thursday, September 3, 2026, driven by gains in the global market where the price per ounce rose toward the $4,400 level. This global surge is attributed to a decline in the US Dollar and falling US Treasury yields as investors await key US jobs data to gauge the Federal Reserve's upcoming interest rate decisions.
In Egypt, local gold prices saw slight increases. The 21-karat gold, the most widely traded in the local market, reached levels between 6,290 and 6,410 EGP for sale, depending on the specific market update. The 24-karat gold was recorded at approximately 7,303 to 7,325 EGP, while 18-karat gold fluctuated around 5,477 to 5,494 EGP. The gold pound was priced near 51,120 to 51,280 EGP.
While global prices rose, the impact on the Egyptian market was somewhat moderated by fluctuations in the US Dollar exchange rate against the Egyptian Pound.
