Egyptian Professional Clubs Association announces withdrawal penalties

Taha Ezzat, Chairman of the Competitions Committee for the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association, has detailed the penalties for team withdrawals in the upcoming Egyptian Premier League season. The regulations recognize three types of withdrawal: temporary withdrawal, withdrawal during a match, and failure to appear or withdrawing before kickoff.

For teams that withdraw before or during a match, the penalty remains consistent with the previous season: the opposing team is awarded a 3-0 victory, and the withdrawing team faces additional point deductions. In cases of temporary withdrawal due to protests, referees are granted a 15-minute grace period to manage the situation.

New regulations also introduce stricter player-specific penalties. Any player who leaves the field by crossing the touchline during withdrawal-related incidents will face a direct red card. Furthermore, if more than seven players leave the pitch, the team will be deemed to have withdrawn and will lose the match. Players receiving a red card due to withdrawal incidents will face a two-match suspension.
