Egyptian Senate to discuss inflation and food security

The Egyptian Senate, chaired by Counselor Essam El-Din Farid, is scheduled to hold general sessions on October 26 and 27, 2026, to address several critical economic and developmental issues.

A primary focus of the Monday session will be market regulation and price controls. Members of the Senate have submitted multiple requests to clarify government policies regarding rising prices and consumer protection. Specifically, Representative Tamer Abdel Hamid and Representative Zein El-Abidine Kamel have introduced motions concerning market oversight and the protection of citizens from inflation.

Additionally, the Senate will discuss food security measures following a request by Representative Ismail Nasr El-Din. The agenda also includes examining the role of the National Investment Bank in fostering private sector partnerships and supporting startups, as well as exploring modern mechanisms for financing infrastructure and developmental projects.
