Egyptian Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsi meets MPs to discuss welfare programmes

Dr. Maya Morsi, Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, held a meeting with members of the House of Representatives and the Senate at the ministry’s headquarters in the new capital. Attendees included the minister’s office director, the head of the central office for persons with disabilities, and senior officials from the political liaison and research departments.

The gathering, part of a series of regular coordination sessions, reviewed requests submitted by legislators on behalf of constituents and examined the ministry’s ongoing projects. Morsi highlighted a strategic financial‑empowerment scheme inspired by Bangladesh’s Grameen Bank, involving 34 national partners and the expansion of the Nasser Social Bank’s services through the Egyptian Post’s network, now covering 4,200 branches nationwide. She also addressed initiatives on child welfare, including the expansion of a sponsorship system for children without family support and the development of alternative family arrangements.

Parliamentarians expressed gratitude for the minister’s responsiveness and urged swift action on the submitted demands to improve citizen services.
