Egyptian university hospitals serve 3 million+ patients in 2025/26

University hospitals across Egypt reported a major increase in patient services for the 2025/26 fiscal year. At Qena University, hospitals treated around 500,000 beneficiaries, performing over 31,000 surgeries, more than 1 million laboratory tests, 13,000 CT scans and 5,600 MRI examinations, and opened new units such as chronic‑pain care, gastrointestinal endoscopy, dialysis and evening outpatient clinics.

University of Minia announced that its hospitals surpassed three million medical services, doubled bed capacity to nearly 2,000 and plan to reach 2,500 beds with the addition of new specialized hospitals for oncology, internal‑surgical care, ophthalmology and neuro‑psychiatric care. The university also secured accreditation for four hospitals and a contract with the comprehensive health‑insurance scheme to provide services for over 800 beds. Both institutions highlighted these achievements as part of Egypt’s Vision 2030 to strengthen university hospitals as key centres for health care, education and research.
