Egypt's 2026/27 budget allocates billions to health, education, social protection and industry

Egypt's state budget for the fiscal year 2026‑2027 introduces a strategic shift toward outcome‑based budgeting and greater investment in human capital. The plan raises health allocations by about 30%, education spending by 20%, and earmarks 836 billion Egyptian pounds for social protection programmes. It also dedicates 90.5 billion pounds to a unified procurement system aimed at improving value for money and reducing waste.

A separate industrial package sets aside roughly 80 billion pounds to boost production, export capacity and job creation. Officials argue that these measures will enhance manufacturing output, lower import dependence, strengthen the trade balance and support Egypt’s ambition to become a regional industrial hub.
