Egypt’s digital services sector reaches $5.2bn in exports

Egypt’s offshoring and digital services sector generated an estimated $5.2 billion in exports in 2025. The industry is undergoing a transition from traditional back-office and call-center operations toward higher-value specialized services, including software development, data analysis, cloud services, and the integration of generative artificial intelligence.

The sector currently includes 252 companies operating across 282 global delivery centers. This ecosystem features 177 multinational firms employing more than 195,000 specialists. Major companies such as Teleperformance, Concentrix, Vodafone Intelligent Solutions, and Sutherland are part of this landscape. Alexandria has emerged as a significant technology hub outside of Cairo, hosting nearly 15,000 specialists.

Growth is supported by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA). Egypt’s competitive advantages include a large young workforce, a significant pool of university graduates, and a strategic geographical position serving European, Middle Eastern, and African markets. To sustain this momentum, the country faces the challenge of updating education and training systems to ensure workers can manage the shift toward automation and AI-driven roles.
