Egypt's Financial Regulatory Authority launches national IPO readiness programme for state-owned firms

The Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) of Egypt inaugurated a nationwide training programme aimed at preparing state‑owned companies with provisional listings on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) for public offerings. The launch was led by FRA Chairman Islam Azzam and attended by Minister of Investment Mohamed Farid, Assistant Prime Minister and head of the State Ownership Unit Hashem El Sayed, EGX Chairman Omar Radwan and senior officials from both agencies.

The first training session began at the Financial Services Institute and the Egyptian Institute of Directors, the two training arms of the FRA. Seven core modules cover the capital‑market legislative framework, provisional and final listing procedures, financial and accounting readiness, corporate governance and sustainability, disclosure and prospectus preparation, public‑offering mechanisms and post‑listing compliance. Initially 20 state‑owned firms with temporary EGX listings – 14 of which participated in the first round – will be trained, with later cohorts drawn from sectors such as petroleum, mining, pharmaceuticals, tourism, contracting, education and industry.

The programme seeks to raise the technical and financial competence of executives, improve financial literacy, promote best‑practice governance and support Egypt’s broader privatisation agenda. FRA officials noted that the authority had delivered more than 90 training programmes in the previous year, reaching thousands of professionals across the financial sector.
