Egypt’s Food Technology Institute launches training for university students

The Food Technology Research Institute, part of the Agricultural Research Center under Egypt’s Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, has launched a specialized training program on ‘Good Manufacturing Practices’ (GMP) for students at 6th of October Technological University.

The initiative aims to prepare students for the labor market by enhancing their scientific and practical capabilities in food quality and safety. According to Dr. Atef Ashiba, Director of the Food Technology Research Institute, adhering to GMP is essential for ensuring safe, high-quality food production. The training covers various stages of the manufacturing process, including facility design, production, storage, and transportation.

Implementing these practices is intended to reduce contamination risks, protect consumers from health hazards and fraud, and provide a safe working environment. Furthermore, the program seeks to improve company competitiveness and support trade by aligning with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) requirements, helping businesses meet customer demands and access new markets.
