Egypt's Giza Umm el‑Masriyeen Hospital to expand to 407 beds

The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population is carrying out a comprehensive redevelopment of the Umm el‑Masriyeen General Hospital in Giza Governorate. After the works, the hospital will have 407 beds and new specialised departments, equipped with modern medical technology, as part of the ministry’s strategy to raise operational efficiency and the quality of public health services.

During the renovation, patient services are being temporarily transferred to the nearby Bolak El‑Dokroor General Hospital, located about 4.6 km away. Bolak El‑Dokroor has been fully upgraded to a 215‑bed facility, offering intensive care units, a bone‑marrow transplant unit, cardiac catheterisation, advanced imaging, pathology labs, dialysis, endoscopy and a full emergency department. The temporary relocation is intended to ensure uninterrupted care for millions of residents while the main hospital is modernised.
