Egypt's Healthcare Authority expands services and secures international leadership role
The General Authority for Healthcare in Egypt has launched several specialized medical units at the Luxor International Complex. With investments exceeding 11 million EGP, the new facilities include units for clinical toxicology, stroke care, and burns. The toxicology unit is equipped with intensive care beds, ventilators, and vital signs monitors to provide rapid medical assessment and treatment plans for poisoning cases.
The stroke unit is designed to implement urgent treatment pathways, including rapid medical team activation, diagnostic imaging, and evaluating candidates for clot-dissolving therapies. These expansions aim to improve response times for critical emergencies and enhance overall medical outcomes in the Luxor governorate.
In international news, Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare, has been re-elected for a second term as the Governor for the Africa and Middle East region on the International Hospital Federation (IHF) Board of Directors for the 2026–2029 term.
