Egypt's Hee Al-Funun Arts- She Festival Announces 2026 Program with Global Artists
The Hee Al-Funun Arts‑She festival announced its sixth edition at a press conference in Cairo’s Hilton Grand Nile hotel. The four‑day event will run from 1 to 4 October 2026 on the campus of the American University in Cairo, under the theme “Voices of Peace… Global Symphony.” It is sponsored by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and will feature artists from Egypt and a range of countries including Spain, Estonia, Italy, Hungary, Portugal, Japan, India and Indonesia. For the first time the festival will partner with the Ismailia Real Estate Investment Company to host art exhibitions in the Radio Cinema corridor and “The Factory” venue, and it will honor composer Hany Shenouda with a special performance that brings together singers who have worked with him throughout his career.
Separately, Egyptian film festivals are reviving a long‑planned union intended to coordinate schedules, prevent date clashes and expand cooperation with Arab and international festivals. After eight years of discussion, a founding meeting gathered representatives of several festivals, but the head of the Ghardaqa festival withdrew without explanation. Critics have questioned the initiative’s motives, yet its promoters, including director Masad Foda, say the union remains in its foundational stage and aims to improve coordination without replacing the Ministry of Culture’s existing committee.
