Egypt's Higher Education Minister leads university meetings and French diplomatic talks

Egypt's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Abdel Aziz Qanso, has initiated several academic and diplomatic activities. He presided over a Cairo University council meeting to mark the start of the 2026/2027 academic year, reviewing preparations for the new term and outlining an extensive agenda of scientific, cultural, and digital initiatives.

The university's upcoming schedule includes international conferences on artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and sustainable development, alongside hackathons and entrepreneurship summits. The agenda also emphasizes community service through medical and veterinary convoys and the launch of the ‘Athar’ platform for community engagement.

In a separate diplomatic effort, Minister Qanso met with the French Ambassador to Cairo, Eric Chevalier, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in higher education and scientific research. The discussions focused on expanding academic partnerships between Egyptian and French institutions and supporting the development of the French University in Egypt, including its new campus project, to better align graduate skills with global labor market demands.
